《金刚》大卖后，同年就毫不意外地出现了这部跟风之作，而且还是出自《金刚》导演之一的斯考德萨卡之手。故事延续《金刚》的内容，片中的导演卡尔死里逃生后继续过着罪恶般的生活，回到骷髅岛之后，再次潜入金刚的巢穴，等待他的是比金刚小一号的猩猩，这个金刚的儿子则被卡尔的香蕉所迷惑。

渔村姑娘菱菱（黎莉莉 饰）与表哥（高占非 饰）捕鱼为生。时军阀战争频仍，农村破产，菱菱与表哥被迫流入大城市谋生，同在一家纱厂做工。后来，表哥当了水手，漂泊重洋。菱菱涉世不深，不识城市社会黑暗，受纱厂少东家诱惑，被骗失身，旋又被卖入妓院，过着地狱般的生活。两年以后，已参加革命军的表哥回到上海，遭敌人追捕。在危急关头，菱菱冒死帮助表哥脱逃，自己则被捕处以死刑。天明时分，菱菱被押赴刑场，菱菱知道表哥和无数战士，正努力为受压迫的群众争自由、谋解放、求光明，因此毫无悲哀，含笑就义。

A classic modernization melodrama exploring the consequences of female autonomy. Kusum (Gohar) rejects her avaricious uncle's decision to marry/sell her to a rich man and is adopted by Seth Kisandas (Adajania). She meets his urbanized son Jayant (E. Bilimoria) and his friends Ramesh (Yakub) and Kishori (Mehtab). The love story of Kusum and Jayant explores the complications ensuing from a woman's freedom to choose. The issue is resolved only after Ramesh molests her. She defends herself and is tried for attempted murder.

New Delhi, the winter of 1993. A deaf mute young man is arrested by "Bureau" and accused of being a spy. A sign language expert is brought in to act as an interpreter for the Government’s agent and the “spy”. The unravelling of the mystery is the journey that sucks the sign language expert into the dark vortex of rivalry between intelligence agencies, deceit, and corruption, where the horizon line between innocence and guilt gets hazy.
